This webquest is designed to enrich 7th grade students' knowledge and awareness of the Native American culture through research and a PowerPoint presentation. Oklahoma PASS standards include:
World Geography Standard 1: The student will use maps and other geographic representations, tools and technology to analyze relationships between people, places and environments of world regions from a spatial perspective.
1. Locate, gather, analyze and apply information from primary or secondary source.
Language Arts Standard 5: Research and Information - The student will conduct research and organize information.
1. Access a variety of primary and secondary sources to locate information relevant to research questions.
Language Arts Standard 2: Speaking - The student will express ideas and opinions in group or individual situations.
1. Analyze purpose, audience and occasion and consider this information in planning an effective presentation or response.

Introduction
Welcome! Thank you for your inquiry about our contest. YOU ARE A WINNER! You have just been selected as a contestant to present an overview to the Chamber of Commerce Committee concerning the entertainment of Native Americans in a Pow Wow.
Task
The committee has a deadline of less than one week to complete the project. Your task is to present a draft via PowerPoint to the committee by Friday of next week. The winner of the contest will have their information published in the local community brochures for all to see.
Process
You will work with a partner in researching the information to be included in the PowerPoint presentation. Some facts you will want to include are:
- What a powwow is.
- Are there organizations involved?
- Responsibilities of Arena personnel.
- What dances are performed?
- Do the dancers compete?
- Are there prizes awarded?
- Any concessions?
- Princess contest.
- Is there a powwow held in Oklahoma?
The sky is the limit - use creativity and imagination in the design of your presentation, as judging will occur upon completion.

- include graphics with good layout and color
- easy-to-read text

Eight points for required assignment
Two points for completion of assignment

Conclusion
The Chamber of Commerce is pleased with your PowerPoint presentation and would like to congratulate you as a winner of the contest. Great graphics and text about the Native American culture. A dinner is being held to design the brochure layout and topics to be included. The committee is anxious to view the completed brochure, as there are many imaginative topics to be included.
